The Clerk’s Department processes civil license registrations and historical data revisions for records of birth, marriage, and death events that occurred uniquely within the physical borders of Fredon Township.

Appointments

Appointments are not required to file applications, but they are requested to guarantee timely service from departmental personnel.

Marriage & Civil Union License Application Process

To establish a legal marriage or partnership union within the State of New Jersey, documentation requirements fluctuate depending entirely on your point of geographic residency:

Document Filing Rules

New Jersey Residents: Applications must be initiated in the specific New Jersey municipality where either applicant maintains their permanent residence. The completed license is valid state-wide.

Non-Residents (Out-of-State): If neither individual resides within New Jersey, applications must be generated directly with the local municipality where the physical ceremony is occurring. The license remains strictly local to that municipality.

Mandatory 72-Hour Waiting Period:
State regulations require a strict 72-hour period between submitting the form data and collecting the physical license copy. Please track structural timelines accordingly around Wednesday closures.

Required Application Items:

  • Identification: Valid government-issued photo identification (driver’s license, passport, or identification card).
  • Proof of Residency: Verification of residential mailing address (such as utility statements or legal lease instruments).
  • Social Security Numbers: Numerical entry is essential; physical card rendering is optional.
  • Witness: One identifier witness of minimum legal age (18) must accompany both applicants during the signature session.
  • Application Fee: Statutory baseline collection fee of $28.00.
Form FYIs:
  • Form Processing Instructions: Applicants are free to download and compile data sections prior to entry.
  • Do not apply legal signatures to documents until prompted explicitly by the local Registrar or designated Deputy.
