Discussion Items
- Lodestar Park Sign
Mr. Olsen brought up the Lodestar Park sign for discussion. He would like to have one closer to the road so that the park is easier to find. Mayor Nichols stated that he will investigate options but thinks it’s a great idea.
New Business
- Fredon Day
Chair Deitz stated that the inflatables have been ordered. She has also supplied 3 quotes for tents/tables/chairs/dunk tank. Band contract has been signed. Stage contract has been signed. There was a discussion on food/drink as the Fire Department had stated that last year’s profit was very small. Chair Deitz will investigate other alternatives if they do not want to continue supplying the food/drink for the event. Ms. Usinowicz stated that she will make sure the Miss Fredon details are on the website and that the Clerk sends out an Eblast to make sure residents are aware of the contest.Chair Deitz stated that she did a poll on social media asking residents what they would like to see on Fredon Day. Ax throwing was the winner. Ms. Usinowicz will investigate insurance as what is required by our Township. There was a discussion also on putting details of the event on the Fredon sign located on route 94. Mayor Nichols stated that he had no issues with that. - Fireworks
Vee Rumsey from Stillwater approached members of the Fredon Committee about the possible idea of making an agreement between Stillwater/Fredon/Hampton alternating fireworks in each town at any point during the year every 3 years. There was a discussion amongst members on what that would look like for Fredon. Mr. Wilson stated that Fredon Township would have to find a new location to set off the fireworks as the Recreation Grant includes turning the hay field into a meadow with partnership with the Ridge and Valley Conservancy for rehabilitation purposes of wildlife and aviary.
Old Business
- Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
Chair Deitz stated that there are enough tablecloths, paper products, and coloring items. Mr. Wilson stated that he has the eggs in his procession. Recreation Commission members are planning on meeting at 8am to set up for event. Fire Department has all food items.
